The ESSENCE Festival of Culture is one of the largest gatherings of Black culture in the country, held in New Orleans around the Fourth of July weekend with music, conversations and a marketplace.
2027 dates
As of November 2026, ESSENCE has not announced official 2027 dates. The festival’s own FAQ says it returns to New Orleans over Fourth of July weekend. Some resellers list early July dates, but treat those as unconfirmed until ESSENCE posts them. Check essence.com/festival.
Tickets and hotels
Buy tickets only from ESSENCE or its official partners. For 2026, ESSENCE ran an official hotel room block at essencefesthotels.com. We expect a similar program, but it has not been announced for 2027.
Plan your trip
Hotels in the French Quarter and Central Business District fill early. Lock in a refundable room first, then buy tickets when they go on sale. See also our Essence planning guide.
We have reached out to ESSENCE about a partnership. Nothing is confirmed yet, and we will say so here when it is.
